Triabit news for March, 2014

Criterion wins G1 Rosehill Guineas

A brilliant ride from Hugh Bowman on Criterion saw the David Payne-trained Criterion today win the $500,000 Group 1 Rosehill Guineas, wearing the Triabit. Having been runner-up in Spring Champion Stakes and the Australian Guineas, Criterion was not to be denied today.

Thunder Fantasy and Teronado led the rest of the field home to complete yet another brilliant Triabit trifecta.
Shamus Award wins G1 Australian Guineas

Shamus Award today won the Group 1 Australian Guineas in emphatic style, wearing the Triabit. Ridden to perfection by Craig Williams, the Cox Plate winner was just good for his rivals, beating Criterion and Thunder Fantasy, who completed a Triabit-wearing trifecta in the $500,000 race.

Trainer Danny O'Brien will now weigh up his options with the three-year old superstar, with an eye on a return to the Cox Plate again this year.

Incidentally, there were 14 runners in the race, of which seven were wearing the Triabit. And of the first seven runners home, six of them were wearing the Triabit!
Five All wins G3 Frances Tressady Stakes

The Darren Weir-trained Five All today impressively won the Group 3 Frances Tressady Stakes at Flemington, wearing the Triabit. Five All started at the generous price of 13/1 and despite being boxed in on the rails with 300m to go, was able to switch out and overpower her rivals.

Ridden beautifully by Michelle Payne, Five All rounded up the Peter Moody-trained pair Floria and Sino Eagle to record a decisive first group-level vitory. Payne had for some time pestered Weir to let her ride thr horse and her faith in the fou-year-old mare was amply rewarded today.
